I would like the articulate the changes that i have seen over the years in Orlando and Why it is such a unique place to live. I grew up in big city named Dallas Texas and graduated college at SMU (Southern Methodist University). I moved to Florida after graduation and began working for Walt Disney World Designing and installing all of their landscape for the new Hotels that were in progress and being built five in total.

When I was on site I was amazed at how they Disney would fill all of the rooms. approximately 3,000 at the time, now to give a time reference this was in 1990. After leaving Disney and going to work with My wife Pamela at Ann Cross Realty in Winter Park Florida I began a new career and was a little terrified to be in the only place at the time that specialized in high-end Real Estate 700,00 0 and above but I soon took to the task of learning everything about Central Florida and all of the towns around Winter Park such as Longwood, Lake Mary, Windermere, and South Orlando which at that time remember South Orlando was hunting leases and mobile home parks with one exception and that was Lake Nona Golf and Country Club know as the The estate of Lake Nona now.

It was a private development built by Tavistock Group mainly for the purpose of providing high end homes to buyers from over seas. It was at the time (out in the Bonnies) as we would say. Well to go back to my Winter Park story I worked alongside of my wife for 5 years and became a top producer at Ann Cross Inc and on my sixth year my wife and I bought the company from Ann Cross. For the next seven years we worked hard and became a well known name not that is was not well known before but we built it bigger and better and on the eighth year we decided to sell the company to Coldwell Banker to spend more time with our Kids which at this time were 1 and 3.

We sold our home in Winter Park and Moved out to what is now called Lake Nona believe it or not which is still Orlando. we built a home in Northlake Park at Lake Nona which was the only subdivision around except Lake Nona Golf and Country club and East Park. You ask why did you move there? Well that\’s up for debate but my Mother and Father and law lived in the Estates and wanted to be closer to their Grand Kids so we started our Real Estate career again in an area with few homes but a large number of land parcels on Lakes which at the time was relatively inexpensive you could buy 5 acres for $250,000 on a lake.

Well as time went buy we saw new subdivisions being built all around us and the road being widened to 4 lanes instead of 2 and Shopping centers being built which included our first Publix. After the shopping center was developed my friend started a company called Our Town Realty which was the only Real Estate company within 10 miles at the time so I began with him selling all the newer homes and developing Lakefronts and selling them. Four years later this now in 2005 my friend decided to sell his company to Century 21 and Frankly I just don\’t look good in a gold jacket, so I decided to move my license to the only other shop in town at the time which was Keller Williams Realty and that was 6 miles away in Lee Vista which was a whole other little development in the area and I focused my efforts in Lake Nona. About a year later Tavistock announced they would Build Medical City which would bring all new Advanced sciences to the Lake Nona area .

This was the start of True Lake Nona in Orlando it boomed for the next 2 years ahead the crash and then turned around quicker than any other place in Orlando due to the efforts of Tavistock bringing in Nemours\’s Children\’s Hospital, UCF Medical College, UF bio Sciences and much more. Well to shorten this article , today is is a town within a town its wonderful to live here because I\’m 5 minutes to Airport, I\’m surrounded by wonderful restaurants and entertainment of all sorts. as well as I\’m 45 minutes to the beaches on either side of the state and if I desire to go to true Downtown Orlando I am 25 minutes from there. Well as anyone would say Orlando has it\’s positives and negatives but we love the Orlando Area our children grew up here and graduated college here and starting their careers here. I hope this gives you insight to Orlando from an Orlandoen.
