Monterey California
I have lived in the Monterey County for over 25 years. I arrived here originally from Fiji Islands at the age of 7 and have lived in the Monterey County ever since. I honestly don\’t think I will ever leave as this place has so much to offer. Monterey County is located on the Central Coast of California just south of the San Francisco Bay Area, about 45 miles from San Jose and 106 miles from the City of San Francisco. The rich Salinas Valley extends through the heart of the County, making Monterey the third largest agricultural county in California.
The county is known for its famous golf courses such as Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spanish Bay, the beautiful coast line beaches, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, wine tasting, the Laguna Seca Raceway, and amazing list of restaurants. Monterey is known for its hospitality industry like most surrounding cities within Monterey County, restaurants, beautiful beaches, and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The Aquarium receives over 2 million visitors annually and is the second largest visited Aquarium behind Georgia\’s Aquarium.
Pacific Grove is another coastal city in the Monterey county. It is known for its numerous Victorian-era houses, some of which have been turned into bed and breakfast inns. This town is more quieter and not as touristy as some of the other ones mentioned in this article.
Pebble Beach is known for the world renown golf course\’s as mentioned above like Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spanish Bay, beautiful foods, stunning real estate, and some of the larger events like Concours d\’Elegance and the Pebble Beach Food and Wine
Carmel-by-the-sea is a charming little town known for its art galleries, restaurants, wine tasting, soft white sand beach and homes without numbered home address\’s. Clint Eastwood was elected Mayor from 1986 to 2001 and in fact still lives and owns a few restaurants such as the Mission Ranch.
Big Sur is renowned worldwide for its natural features and relatively pristine scenery. The Big Sur coast has been called the “longest and most scenic stretch of undeveloped coastline in the United States. Visitors love to go hiking and camping at many of their campgrounds such as Andrew Molera and Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park just to name a few.
That is Monterey County in a nut shell. These are the main tourist attraction areas that give reason to come visit our county. You get the best of all worlds here, amazing food and wine for those foodies and wino\’s , lavish hotels, surfers paradise, and those who love to stay active can hike with stunning cliff views or take a walk along the beach.
