Logan Utah

Also known as Cache Valley

Located in a beautiful mountain valley, Logan is the county seat of Cache County and the largest city in the area. With many other cities and towns surrounding Logan, the population is estimated to be over 130,000 and growing quickly. People are drawn to the Logan area for many reasons. Some come to Utah State University for schooling, others relocate for work, some have family roots and others are attracted to the area because of low crime rates and good quality of life.

Named for the Logan River that runs through the area it was settled in 1859 by early settlers and members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Some of the most iconic buildings in the area came from the efforts of these early settlers. These include the Logan Tabernacle, the Logan Temple, and Old Main on the USU campus.

Cache County, also known to locals as Cache Valley, experiences all four seasons. The spring brings beautiful color to the surrounding area and mountains and many people love to garden and raise all types of animals. The summers are warm and it is normal to have temperatures in the 80’s and low 90’s in the summer. July and August are the warmest months. Camping, hiking and riding ATVs are popular activities. Fall is absolutely beautiful with the changing of the leaves. A drive through the mountains is a must at this time of year. Winter brings a blanket of snow that stays through the winter and it is normal to see temperatures drop to the teens or lower at times. Many citizens love winter activities such as snowmobiling and skiing.

As mentioned before many people come to Logan to either attend or work at Utah State University. It is one of the largest employers in the valley. Other large employers are Icon Health and Fitness, Cache County and Logan School Districts, Swift Beef Company, Schribers, Gossners, Logan Regional Hosptial, Conservice, and others.

Logan area has a good mix of big-box retailers and small businesses to provide shopping, dining, entertainment, and recreation activities. The Cache County Fair happens each August and many cities in the valley have some sort of celebration in the year to showcase their community. These celebrations provide residents with entertainment, local vendors, and a reason to gather together and just have fun.

Many local businesses have fun family activities that include indoor rock climbing, trampoline parks, fun centers, bowling, movie theaters, arts, museums, performing arts, and miniature golf. If the great outdoors calls to you most cities have multiple parks, playgrounds, and splash pads to visit. There are a couple of swimming pools throughout the valley as well. There are disc golf courses, regular golf courses, and lots of walking trails. If the mountains call your name there are plenty of hiking trails, ski resorts, mountain biking, rock climbing, and other off-road opportunities. Boating is another popular activity with multiple options to choose from. One of the most popular is Bear Lake. It is a gorgeous high mountain lake that attracts lots of visitors in the summer and it is just an hour’s drive through Logan Canyon and the views are amazing all along the way.

There are two school districts in the area. The Logan School District covers the City of Logan. All other cities and towns fall within the Cache County School District. There are multiple charter schools available as well as dual language immersion programs throughout the valley for all ages. Overall Logan is home to many people who love the area for different reasons and choose to make it a better place now and in the future.
