Burbank California

I was born and raised in Burbank CA. I still live in the same town. I have many friends who are third and fourth generation Burbanker’s. That says a lot about the city to me because people don’t leave very often. Many residents have lived in their homes more than 30 years. Statistically, property values in the Burbank area have remained consistent. This has a lot to do with Burbank being one of the few incorporated cities in Los Angeles County. That means Burbank controls it’s own police, fire, schools and utility. Burbank is home to The Walt Disney Company, Warner Brothers Studios, NBC, Nickelodeon and many ancillary studio related businesses. The City of Burbank’s State of the City address is held every year in December. This past December, statistics were provided that showcased Burbank’s employment to be well over 175,000 jobs. The daytime population triples every day because there isn’t enough housing within the city to accommodate all budgets so people have to commute into Burbank for work. All of this showcases Burbank’s ability to provide jobs, good community, excellent schools, infrastructure, property values and safe environment to live and raise a family.

Burbank has charming neighborhoods. The Magnolia Park is an area where people stroll along shady streets, window shop for antiques, and stop in at one of the cute restaurants located along the way. The Rancho is another neighborhood in the Burbank area. Burbank is the only incorporated city that allows homeowners to keep horses in their back yards. The Rancho is nearby the Los Angeles Equestrian Center which is connected to Griffith Park by horse trail and a bridge. In a bustling city, residents often see a horse and rider walking along the street in the horse lane. If hillside living is more your style, Burbank has lovely shady streets where homes are located above the noise of the city, providing views of the valley, including Universal Studios Theme Park off in the distance.

Burbank has major big box shopping with Costco, Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart and Target. The city has just finished major freeway renovations to accommodate a better flow of traffic away from neighborhoods to keep the small town feel in place for all residents.

The Starlight Bowl is one of the crown jewels of Burbank’s many special places. This is an open air ‘Hollywood Bowl’ style venue, on a smaller scale. The Starlight Bowl hosts annual 4th of July fireworks, and attracts many excellent musical performers with very affordable ticket prices to accommodate all budgets. Bring a picnic and enjoy an evening under the stars listening to live music on a Saturday night in the summer.

Finding the right home in the best neighborhood for your family is important. Burbank has many wonderful locations, some with excellent walkability, some with amazing views and privacy – it just depends on what you are looking for. One thing is for certain, you will find this to be a charming city and might never leave!
